Valkyrie is a comprehensive project management tool built on the Microsoft Services platform which provides instant access to customer contracts, project workflows, and real-time document tracking. As the principal UX designer in charge of designing Valkyrie’s user interface, my goal was to raise the bar for Microsoft. As such, Valkyrie sets a new standard for executing business transactions quickly and easily. With the flexibility of Microsoft SharePoint, Valkyrie provides both TAMs and customers a unique user experience and interface tailored to their company’s business structure to reduce the individual user learning curve and maximize productivity.
User Journey
Tailored User Journey for Seamless Operations
Overcoming challenges in Valkyrie’s development, my team and I built a robust web portal that integrates seamlessly with Microsoft tools. Addressing activities such as RFPs, SQL analytics, reporting services, submittals, and approvals, the user flow captures daily business operations. By streamlining features like daily logs and routing numbers, Valkyrie mitigates risks associated with implementing new software solutions, emphasizing the importance of intuitive UX in optimizing daily workflows.

Unveiling Valkyrie: A Product Prototype Journey
Guiding a dedicated and talented team, I spearheaded the strategic planning and meticulous execution that marked the unveiling of Valkyrie. Our collaborative efforts resulted in the creation of a compelling video, meticulously showcasing the tool’s unparalleled features. The resounding success, with adoption across more than 20 Microsoft departments, is a testament to effective leadership and art direction. It highlights the pivotal role of a well-crafted product prototype not only in conveying functionalities but also in garnering widespread endorsement and adoption within Microsoft.
Mobile Optimization
Mobile Optimization for Inclusive Accessibility
Recognizing the significance of mobile-first best practices, Valkyrie underwent a transformative shift to enhance accessibility. This focus included considerations for users with visual impairments, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Through customizable features like variable font sizing and clear calls-to-action, Valkyrie delivers a user-friendly experience on various devices, emphasizing the critical role of UX in diverse user interactions.

Valkyrie’s Security Access Opens Venue for Creativity
At the time of its conception, Valkyrie was a highly secret project on a need-to-know basis up until its release. As such, I took charge of crafting a branded security clearance card for the exclusive inner-team. This not only served as a testament to the project’s confidentiality but also highlighted the integral role of user experience in ensuring seamless and secure access for authorized personnel, emphasizing the importance of UX in product confidentiality and internal communication.
UI Design
Crafting Innovation Defined by User Testing
Within the expansive scope of Valkyrie’s development, we prioritized user-centric innovation through comprehensive user testing, defining UI drag/drop features. This entailed the meticulous creation of customizable interface elements, encompassing LESS/CSS3 theme colors, user dashboards, and filtering options. These frontend design choices were pivotal in elevating the overall user experience, providing flexibility and personalization that enhances usability and ensures a smooth user journey through Valkyrie’s feature-rich landscape. In essence, this showcases the critical role of frontend design in tailoring the application to meet user needs, thereby enriching their journey within the platform.
