Event Marketing Campaign

Build is an annual event held by Microsoft, geared towards giving developers deep training on Microsoft platforms. For the first year, Microsoft asked my team to take the Microsoft branding and put together a series of assets to support the event. The next year, my team was asked again to modernize the branding for an all-new year. Here I was responsible for developing a brand style guide for the conference, alongside various assets for the tradeshow. Our objective was simple… deconstruct the Build logo and repurpose those design elements in a way that was both minimalistic and also visually engaging. The result was one of Microsoft’s most impactful years for the Build conference. Years later, Build would go on to absorb many of Microsoft’s smaller networking events, becoming the premier conference for the technology giant.

Registrations Focus on Gated Content & Future Vision

At the forefront of Microsoft’s groundbreaking event, my team and I crafted a distinctive event site for BUILD, showcasing the technology giant’s new vision for the future of Windows. Attendees not only registered but also gained an exclusive sneak peek into Microsoft’s cutting-edge concepts, marking a pivotal moment in the conference’s history.

Way Finding Signage

Digital Displays Aid Event Attendees & Drive Engagement

Leading a team with a touch-interface focus, I played a crucial role in designing video kiosks for BUILD. These interactive displays featured way-finding signage, keynote speaker information, and bootcamp breakout sessions, providing attendees with valuable insights and enhancing their overall event experience. To drive in-person engagement, attendees could also unlock hidden content and earn badges depending on the kiosk location. Using QR codes and scanning attendee lanyards added deeper marketing engagement through gamification.

Impressionable Promotional Material for BUILD

Among my standout designs for Microsoft, the promotional drawstring bag was a huge success, allowing BUILD attendees to showcase their collected swag while prioritizing the conference’s brand identity. This innovative approach solidified BUILD’s brand presence and left a lasting impression on participants. While simple and elegant, this strategic marketing intention underscored my leadership role in shaping the creative strategy and art direction behind Microsoft BUILD, positioning the event as a pinnacle of creativity and innovation.

Pioneering Innovation: Crafting Microsoft’s First Event-Driven UI

In a landscape dominated by Android and Apple, Microsoft sought to redefine the mobile experience by introducing an exclusive event-driven mobile app, available solely on the Microsoft Store for BUILD attendees. Leading the charge, my team and I took responsibility for designing the user experience of this groundbreaking application, showcasing Microsoft’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and providing a seamless, personalized conference experience.

Elevating Brand Experience: Custom-Designed Wristbands

In the pursuit of a holistic attendee experience, I took a hands-on approach to design every detail, including the meticulously crafted wristbands for Microsoft BUILD. These wristbands, a vital element of the event’s collateral, not only served a functional purpose but also became a symbolic representation of the conference’s new brand identity, reinforcing Microsoft’s dedication to a cohesive and immersive event experience.

Redefining Corporate Creativity with Signature Graphic Tees

Defying conventional event apparel norms, I aimed to energize Microsoft BUILD’s premier conference with a visually compelling graphic tee. Designed to spotlight Microsoft’s innovative “metro” mobile interface, set to be unveiled at the event, this unique garment not only conveyed motion but also stirred excitement among attendees, turning it into a must-have item that became a trendsetter at the conference. This creative approach exemplifies how corporate events can seamlessly blend creativity and technology to leave an indelible mark on participants.
